The Carnival Begins at Midnight - 6
Ethan is at the base of the treehouse Sam and Chelsey yell for him to climb up. The carnival is loud out here. “How does nobody hear this?” He thinks to himself. Thats when Ethan seen two figures dragging John into the woods. “We need to go save John guys! They have him and just dragged him into the woods. He did not look good either.”
Both Sam and Chelsey looked at each other with extreme concern. “Ok let me plot courses for the carnival with the drones also let's load up on all weapons before leaving.” Sam said with about as much confidence as a broken tree limb.
“Grab the gel guns and pellet guns!” Ethan yelled at them. Moments later Chelsey dropped down two CO2 powered pellet guns and one automatic water gel gun. “These will do if not just to buy us some time.” Ethan slung the gel gun around his shoulder and tucked the throwing stars into his belt before sheathing the katana on his waist. “Here Sam take the pistol and Chelsey you can take the pellet rifle. It gives you some more power so you can keep your distance. You can control the drones and plink them. Meanwhile Sam and I will be up close and personal. Give Sam the Hockey stick he can use that, the pistol and slingshot as backup. All three kids ready to go to war for their two friends captured by the circus freaks, begin the walk into the woods.
Walking through the woods getting closer to the carnival the ground hums up the legs of the three teens. Most people would not step foot in these woods at night. These three had unfinished business with the carnival folk who had stolen their good friends. They now could hear not only the old-time carnie music but the sound of the announcer through the loudspeaker, speaking through the tinny microphone. The three teens slink up to the bushes just before a large clearing. It is almost impossible to discern whether what they see is a dream, illusion, or real life the circus tents so neon they blind the mist of haze over the circus grounds creating an unsettling feeling in all their stomachs. The carnival rides with no safety measures no pull-down lap bars on the scrambler ride. The Ferris wheel Ethan gulped as he seen insane looking clowns and carnival freaks hanging upside down from their feet tied by ropes to spin them. A fire breathing woman lights several clowns on fire as they laugh hysterically. Then Sam notices a sword swallowing small person not just swallowing the sword but chewing it before as though it was breakfast cereal. Chelsey seen a strongman but instead of a cannon to the stomach the cannon blasts him in the head, breaking his neck. Only moments later while laughing he snaps his head back to place. The three teens were so astounded and horrified.
“We need to go home guys.” Sam says voice vibrating like a guitar string.
“Wait we can’t. Do you see that?” Ethan said as he pointed to a bunch of cylinder containers with bright neon blue liquid in them. “Those are the things I seen in my dream while I fainted at school, we need to go check them out. They were putting me in there. Only I was in one as they were filling it with that blue liquid. We need to check them out I have a hunch that's where John and Sarah will be.” Ethan spoke in a whisper and both Sam and Chelsey nodded in agreement.
“We need a plan though Ethan we can’t just run in there and get caught.” Chelsey explained.
“She is right Ethan we need a plan.” Sam agreed.
The kids sat and thought about the situation while hiding in the brush. Then Ethan got a great idea. “Ok, I got it. Sam, you and I are going to sneak over to the tubes and try to see if Sarah and John are in them. If they are we must get them out. Chelsey, you are going to stay here with the rifle keeping an eye on us. Also, we should launch the drones, you have your phone to monitor them, right?” Ethan asked Chelsey.
“Phone?” Chelsey gave a condescending look. “I have my newest invention the led screen in my new glasses.” She pulls out regular glasses from her fanny pack around her waist. The glasses had a connector on the end of them. Chelsey pulled out a cable from her bag. The one end was connected to a battery of some sorts Ethan assumed. The other she plugged into the connection on the end of her glasses. There was a reflection on her glasses that was faint, but Ethan could see down on the woods from the drone.
“Wow you can see what the drone is filming can't you?” Ethan was excited.
“Yes, now calm down. Let's us proceed with the plan I have the drones in place.”
